Garbage Disposer Cleaner
Not everything is sexy. That’s ok. We are talking about garbage disposals here. Do yourself a favor and reach in a take out that rubber flange. Scrub the underside of it with your dish brush and dish soap until you feel better about your situation. Next, replace that flange and turn on your HOT water very slowly until the flow of water is as thick as a pencil. Now turn on your disposal and drop in one of the white envelopes from Glisten (use that dish brush to shove it in, not your fingers!). At this point my son yells “Is it time for da blue stuff mom??!?” Yes, it is. You’ll hear a loud gurgle and think “Oh my goodness, what have I done?!” Then, blue foam will come oozing out from the drain. You might see some funky stuff or… if you do this often enough, you’ll just see foam. Either way, be happy about this task. It’s like a fun science experiment each time you use it. Once the foaming and gurgling have subsided, turn your disposal and water off. Now, wash that dish brush in the dishwasher because it’s going to be nasty. Next, you should to feel very good about what just happened.
This product will clean the inner parts of your disposal (or disposer, however you want to say it) including the sidewalls, blades and even the drain pipes. I do this at least once a month, especially on the first of the month which is why I’m writing this today. Yes, I’ve already used it this morning. I even sang “1st of tha month” by Bone Thugs when I did it. Join me by not having a weird smelling kitchen sink, it’s an exclusive club!
